Chassis SFACXXBJ2C??00xxx
I have not been able to find anything that
suggests this chassis number was ever made or sold and believe me, I have looked
!

Of the 200 cars I have found some reference to 153 of them but I have not verified every one is correct.
The total chassis numbers "missing" in the range are ...
011, 013, 017, 018, 019, 020, 021, 022, 023, 024, 025, 026, 027, 028, 029, 030, 031, 032, 033, 035, 036, 037, 038, 039, 040, 041, 042, 043, 044, 045, 046, 047, 048, 049, 050, 051, 052, 054, 055, 056, 057, 058, 059, 060, 078, and 140
That is a total of 47 missing chassis, simple maths (200 - 47) might imply that there were 153 cars left intact of the 200 planned with 47 stripped for spares.
Bob Howe in his letter (see duplicates) has recollection of 146 actually being sold, so with my 153 entries we are 7 adrift.
But remember, my records include cars which we thought should have been crushed, the 6 prototypes and also chassis 200 has never been sold and is still owned by FORD so that could account for the 7...
... however, I might have been told of cars that in reality do not exist, look at #076 for instance, Gareths old chassis table shows it written off, I can find no evidence that it exists or ever existed but someone says it does still.
Gareth in his original tables has entries for chassis numbers #020 and #078 which he seems to list but I cannot find anything about them, I do have information about two other cars which I am waiting to firm up but I think that is about it then.
I think it is fair to say Bob should have the best knowledge but perhaps we should all agree, around 150 examples ever made it out of Boreham as proper cars and not boxes of bits.
Just remember, my list is just a list of chassis and anything I hear or find out about them, it is a central point for all incoming information, just keep it coming ! :)
If another one of these "missing" VIN numbers shows up now it means one of two things:-
a) I missed it when looking or b) It is not what it appears
I would hope it is the former but suggest it is the latter ! - I have said this before and I say it again...
I considered taking this site down or removing all chassis number to index number relationships to make it harder for people to see what chassis numbers are "spare", but it will not make it more difficult, in fact, it will make it harder for a genuine purchaser to find out if what they are buying is real - so, the site remains.
Lately I get so many emails a week with RS200 sightings I am able now to actually police which are real and which are not so perhaps we are now better off ?
My advice is be VERY careful about a car if you are looking to purchase, whether it is on this list or not, ask to see previous history, previous tax discs, do a HPI check on it (which won't show duplicate VIN numbers) - and if nothing else RING THE RS OWNERS CLUB and ask to speak to someone from the RS 200 registrar, they know the history of probably every original RS 200, including previous owners, that there ever was.
Bear in mind RS200's do have STAMPED CHASSIS NUMBERS also just like normal cars !
Also read about the known duplicates, there must be more - Buyer beware !
If you find any further info on this vehicle please email me on justin@rs200.org
