Never seen this particular ad before but I think I've seen the car advertised in a different ad. Seems a little on the expensive side to me but a nice clean example nonetheless. Was wondering if it's an S as it seems to have all the usual refinements that go with it.

The chassis number appears to read 129 to me.
Not only is the plate very strange looking, its mounted in an unusual place.
Photos 5 and 10 show its on the left side of the front bulkhead.

This car first "appeared" in 2008 in as much as my knowledge of it stands. I had an email from a chap in Portugal saying his friend had bought one.

I have never seen the proper stamped VIN plate but have seen an image before of this self adhesive one - I've also never spoken to the owner.

A full inspection would be a must for me to be happy that it is what it appears :) - Justin

Saw this car for sale at the Tecno Classica in Essen in 2011 by a Portugese company Sports Classe for some inflated price. They also had quite a few other tastey items for sale. I did send Justin a few pictures and some history as the salesman told me (Was never added to the Chassis Number Database though!).
I did'nt get to see the actual VIN tag but the car looked correct. The VIN tag pictured in the current advert may just mean the cars was originally sold in Belgium as Ford Belgium always added an additional tag of their own, although back in the Mk1 Escort era it used to be a metal one, so that may not be a cause for concern.

good point about the additional tag, the MK2 Escorts from Belgium iirc had the vin number attatched to inner side of the boot area
