Autocar 0-100-0 Challenge - 7th October 1991

Post by Justin Smith »

Chassis 182 owned at the time by Alan Fenwick.

In this video you can see one of Stig Blomqvist's practice runs in the Ford RS200 Evolution for the Autocar & Motor 0-100-0 Challenge on 7th October 1991.

The car was fitted with timing equipment (which can be seen on its left hand side) and the filming took place on the test track at Ford Motorsport's headquarters which, at the time, was Boreham Airfield.

If you want to read about it you need to find a copy of the 27th November 1991 edition of Autocar.

As you will see in this excellent 4 page article written by Martin Vincent, Stig Blomqvist managed a 13.60 second 0 to 100 to 0 sprint.

Interestingly this event seems to have fed the story that Stig held the world record in the RS200 (see other post) where in fact it was Graham Hathaway.
