I was in email conversation with the owner of #010 and they said they thought #168 was originally owned by Tim Fowler and Kevin Standen from Addington, Surrey and (DS) (owner of #138) sent me some images at Boreham taken when he was looking to buy his RS200.
In the images you can see four cars, starting from the closest, you can see the red chassis #121, a blue version we think is chassis #167 and Tim Fowler (with the tie on) and Kevin Standen who (DS) thinks were part of a syndicate who bought #175 which is one of the two white cars.
In September 2004 I was sent some images from another RS200 enthusiast, Klaus Schumann, these show chassis #175 being sold at a Brooks auction in Monaco 27th May 2000 and confirms it as being an S version.
I have a scan of the auction info on which you can see it has unusual front fog lamps but can be seen to be RHD and has EARS !
In January 2007 I found the auction for this car and it was in Monte Carlo on 27th May 2000 where she sold for £293,250 ! - This can't be right can it ?
In 2009, using publically available data I found the full chassis number is SFACXXBJ2C GL00175 which is unusual as it has a space in-betwen the C and the G but I guess this is a typo.
The data goes on to say the following:-
Make: FORD Model: RS 200 4WD
Transmission & fuel type: MANUAL 5 GEARS PETROL
Body type: 2 DOOR SALOON Engine no.: GL00175
Colour: WHITE Number of gears: 5
Engine capacity: 1803cc First registered: 16/10/1990
Year of manufacture: 1990 CO2 Emissions: UNKNOWN Road Tax (12 Months): £180
The year of manufacturer, as with many cars registered late seems to be wrong, especially when you can see the chassis number has GL in it which means a January 1988 build date.
The most interesting bit is "Number of previous keepers = 2 with Most recent keeper change 10/10/1997" - It says the other change was on 02/02/1995.
Finally it shows that the car bore the plate H653WYT but that was changed on 10/11/1997 to H2OOS which was changed on 5/7/1999 and that it now bears H126DPN.
I am pretty sure I spoke to Tim or Kevin in fact I know I did but I cannot find the email anywhere which is a shame as it explains all about how the consortium car came to be !
January 2012 - The car has shown up in photos of the Juha Kankkunen (four times world rally champion) private collection looking very well.
November 2017 - I received this email..
Hi,
I bought this car from Kevin Standen and sold it in 1997, I also bought 142 from Oakfields at about the same time.
Regards (MF)
May 2023 - Markus sent me an image of 175 in what I believe is Juha Kankkunen's private collection.
If you find out anything else about this car please drop me an email and I'll update the cars entry !
